ideation
The ideation phase lasted for several days and initially started as brainstorming possible ways of transporting BBQ. It then digressed into exploring the aesthetic.
concept selection
Three concepts were explored and presented to the client with the bottom concept being selected. This solution offers a multi-purpose product, that can be used as a table when not in use and can be transported like a suitcase to the destination.
development
This stage consisted of focusing on DFM and DMFA as these will be crucial for the success of the product. The biggest challenge was ensuring the grilling rack and neatly pack away whilst ensuring the ashes were deposited in the ashtray.
prototyping
A 1:1 scale, low-fidelity model was produced to test the UX interaction and the scale of the solution. It helped with piano folding legs, mimicking the desired height. Several family members were asked to test out the solution and their feedback was acted upon.
