Tolerance stacking
Is the process of calculating the tolerances between all the components, ensuring collisions and ill-fitting components are reduced. This process goes through the manufacturing tolerance of each component, views what parts they interact with, and by using interweaving the tolerances. A percentage can be calculated by how likely they are to collide.
This important document is often kept in-house, although sometimes shared with manufacturers.
Technical drawings
Are created in accordance with BS 8888, a British standard regarding the layout of technical drawings. The example shown on the right is of an outdoor cafe table and chairs made from tubular steel.
